Many people wrongly think that the purchase cost of bamboo flooring is going to be very high. Despite it being stylish and classy, and presently much in demand, the current cost of bamboo flooring is relatively cheap compared to some of the exotic hardwoods which are understandably becoming more expensive due to the rapid depletion of the worlds rainforest which is causing a shortage of wood. 

Generally speaking, it is the buying options that affect the cost of bamboo flooring, such as the length of the warranty,  whether or not the bamboo floor is prefinished or if it is manufactured with snap together joints. Basically, the more work has gone into making the flooring the more expensive it will be. A bamboo floor that has been partially manufactured by hand, such as the hand scraped type, will also be more costly due to the manual labor input and because it is usually available in limited quantities.

The actual bamboo flooring cost currently starts at under $2.00 per square foot but prices can be up to $8 or more for the premium brands and types. However this is still reasonably low compared to some traditional wood floors that are often $15 / SF  or more.
